Sometimes repetiton pays…

This is an excerpt from a post written back in March when everyone was just a little or should I say very scared about the future. Now that the sun is shining and the indices are showing some strong gains, individuals may tend to get a little lax. So this is just a reminder for all you folks:

There are only a handful of ways to make money and survive this market. My ideas are below.

If you are long term investor and I mean with a 20yr time horizon. With the indices looking at 1997 lows, I should dare to even say it. average down on the indices. Cost average into your position. Find an ETF that tracks the indices such as the spiders and just start loading up month after month.

This is an opportunity that we may never see again for another century. All the long/short, market neutral funds are getting killed. The quants, forget about it. There isn’t a model that can plan for these kind of market conditions. The folks that will come out on top are the folks shoring up their capital, preparing to aquire distressed assets at deep discounts. All I have to say to lucky son of a guns who pull it off is, wow.

Last but not least is my area of expertise. Let me start by saying, for the time being the buy and hold mentality that most of the world has been fed, just isn’t a viable option anymore. This is, in no uncertain terms a traders market. In my personal opinion holding positions longer than a few days can be disastrous. With the market looking for anything to hold onto. Whether it is a policy shift or a Buffet saying “we are falling off of a cliff”. The complete lack of direction will chop you up. When your profit and loss column is showing a profit, take it. There is something to be said about being flat at the end of the trading day. I recommend you find a trading that fits your temperament. And just apply it consistently. There in lies the secret. Here at FXPOWERTRADING.COM we have a few that will work for you I’m sure.

Happy trading. and welcome to all the new members! We are here for you.”

Great way to end the week folks…

6-26-09 guWe took this 34+ pip winner and closed out the week in the solid green. Some FXPOWER! traders held on longer and took  a few more pips out of the breakout. This is a perfect example of how traders that know what what to look for and don’t get sidetracked by market conditions. Don’t get me wrong, we still stay very aware of the prevailing market enviroment. I will post the chart from today’s trade a little later,

GBP/USD Short Trade…

Colecting pips is easy when you know what to look for. This was a solid 55pip winner. In my humble opinion, I think we have a real cash cow on our hands.

Traders are losing it these days…

All I have to say is that traders these days just need to settle down, regain there focus and get right back to basics. And i’m referring to position and swing traders alike. Oh what am I talking about, you can’t forget us daytraders. Many of my trader friends are taking the markets to seriously. Yeah everyone is talking about the dollar being a little wishy washy. Yeah some strategies are getting killed in this current environment. Yeah I know it’s summer time so the action may seem a little fickle. But my friends there is action to be had. Just checkout this blog for instance where we post almost everyday. The thing is that with the daytraders, many are trying to stay ahead of the game by anticipating the news coming out from the fed and such. They are trying to meld several trading strategies together, but not successfully. The position and swing traders are unclear and are quite conflicted as to where particular pairs may go. Especially If they specialize in only a few pairs (I have a buddy that only trades the GBP/USD). All I have to say expand your basket of currencies. Get back to what was working. And if you are unclear, there are enough pairs out there that you can be sure about. Also make sure that the method you use is capable of being universally traded, i.e. I can literally trade equities with the same system I use to Trade Forex. FXPOWER! can be used on any time frame and any pair. That’s the beauty. So get back to basics folks and you’ll be just fine. If you need any help drop me a line.

Looking for a play…?

As the spring and summer continue on, many traders and investors have very different out look for the majors. I think the only pairs that the masses seem to agree on are the commodity currencies such as the AUD/USD which have had a fantastic run.

I personally feel that the luster maybe coming off of the these pairs just a little. Technically speaking, I think a break under .7750 will indicate short term bearishness. My othe indicators of course will have to be in alignment for the trade to be taken. You may want to zoom doon to the hourly chart to pin point your entry. I trade of of the hourly chart and depending on how the markets are looking, scale down to the 5 min for a quick scalp. That is the beauty of the FXPOWER! trading method is that it can be used on any pair and any time frame.
